Category Archives: Restaurant Reviews

My restaurant reviews are from a whole-food plant-based (WFPB) dining perspective. I take five factors into consideration using a 1-5 scale (1=Terrible, 5=Excellent) :
– Ambiance (general feel and atmosphere)
– Service
– Choices (variety of options available with minimal substitutions)
– Taste
– Overall (For me, choices and taste generally outweigh ambiance and service unless something is especially notable. I also factor in how healthy the cooking is, like how much oil is used.)

If you go to any of the restaurants I’ve reviewed I’d love to hear what you think! Also, I welcome your suggestions of places to try, so if you have a favorite let me know :)

Merzi – Washington D.C.

Merzi, which means Choice, is a counter-serve style restaurant in Washington D.C. Touted in reviews as the “Indian Chipotle”, I was psyched to try it as I love both Chipotle and Indian food. The first step is to choose your … Continue reading

Mellow Mushroom

I’ve eaten at several Mellow Mushroom restaurants in Florida, Arizona and  North Carolina and they all have two things in common: funky atmospheres and great pizza. What makes this pizza chain (yes, they serve other things besides pizza) stand out … Continue reading

Morimoto Asia – Orlando, Florida

One of the advantages of living in Orlando is being able to do touristy things on any regular day. Spending part of a gorgeous Wednesday walking around Disney Springs is one of those things. For lunch I decided on Morimoto … Continue reading

Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday seems to be everywhere in the U.S., from big cities to small towns. I knew they had a salad bar, but I wasn’t sure what else I would be able or want to eat there. I was happy … Continue reading

Too Jay’s – Florida

Too Jay’s is a Florida-based restaurant chain with almost 30 locations. Its roots are NY deli style food (liver and onions is on the menu), but they offer much more than that. It’s casual with table service, though the long … Continue reading

Domino’s Pizza

I almost didn’t do a post on Domino’s because for most of us it’s takeout or delivery, not a place to go and eat. But then I thought, it’s nationwide and international, available pretty much everywhere, and we all get … Continue reading

Aji Sushi & Teppan – Winter Garden, Florida

I had a mixed experience at Aji Sushi & Teppan in Winter Garden Village. On the one hand, the food was good, our waitress was friendly and seemed to try very hard to meet our needs, and the owner was … Continue reading

Busboys and Poets – Washington, DC

Busboys and Poets has six locations in the Washington, DC area including Maryland and Arlington, VA. This is a restaurant that wants to create “a space for art, culture and politics to intentionally collide”. I can’t comment much on if … Continue reading

Atrium at Doral Arrowwood – White Plains, New York

Atrium is located inside the Doral Arrowwood resort. It has a more formal atmosphere, several large floor-to-ceiling windows, and what you might expect from a typical nice large hotel dining room. This isn’t a place I’d choose for eating with … Continue reading

The Pub at Doral Arrowwood – White Plains, New York

**Update: the menu has changed since my visit. No more tofu sliders, veggie burger, the option to add a Portobello mushroom to your salad or as many healthy sides 😞 The Vegetarian Delight (no pesto) looks like it could be … Continue reading
