Magic Wok has authentic Chinese food found in a strip mall near Universal Orlando that hubby and I chose for a Saturday “magical” date night (yeah I’m corny). It is a small, quiet restaurant, but we had no wait for a table. It has great reviews online but somehow still seemed undiscovered. The menu is available in English and Chinese (it has to be authentic right?) and it is extensive – Authentic Shanghai Cuisine, House Deluxe, Chef’s Specialties and Steamed Delights are just some of the categories on the menu. Honestly, I could have spent half an hour pouring over all the vegetable options. Luckily I had a personal recommendation on what to order so I didn’t spend too long examining all the choices. I ordered the Black Mushrooms with Vegetable Hearts, which the menu describes as braised black mushrooms in chef’s special dark brown sauce over steamed vegetable hearts. I wasn’t sure what ‘vegetable hearts’ meant (artichoke hearts?) but ordered it anyway, with brown rice. A little adventure in eating is fun right? Vegetable hearts turned out to be Shanghai Bok Choy and looked beautiful on the plate. I almost hated to eat it. Almost. Fortunately it tasted as good as it looked.
Overall: Good quality Chinese food and lots of choices.
