Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine has two locations in Orlando: Winter Park and Dr. Phillips. They serve, wait for it, Turkish food! I know surprising 🙂 I was in Dr. Phillips and the atmosphere is upscale (with prices to match) but not over the top. It would be a great place for a date.
The good news is that there are several vegan appetizers to choose from, from tabbouli to falafel to red lentil soup. We had the hummus with Lavos which is a hollow bread, like a thin pita in a ball shape with air in the middle. I enjoyed both, although the bottom of the Lavos was a bit burned.
The not as good news is that there is only one vegan entrée: the Vegetable Sauté, which is a combination of fresh green beans, eggplant, zucchini, potatoes, carrots, and garlic in a savory tomato sauce. It comes with white steamed rice (no brown rice available). Fortunately it was very good, but I was surprised there weren’t a couple more options on the menu. I didn’t get a picture of the food this time, sorry!
For another plant-based entrée (though probably not vegan due to the dough) you could probably order the Spinach and Feta Pide without the feta cheese, which would then be a dough crust stuffed with spinach, onions and tomatoes.
If you are in the mood for the Vegetable Sauté or a dinner comprised of appetizers (which could easily be done), you will enjoy your dining experience.
