I was searching for a brunch/breakfast place in downtown Orlando that was both vegan and non-vegan friendly. The Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar seemed to fit that description. It has its own parking lot (a plus in downtown). Upon entering, there are two counters: one with all the food choices for the day (the selection changes daily which is why you won’t find a menu online) and one for coffee drinks and bakery goods. You order everything you want at the cash register at the coffee counter; they bring your food to your table when it’s ready. Seating is a mixture of tables and couches.
First off, there are lots of non-dairy milk options for coffee. Soy, rice, hemp and almond, wow! I haven’t had rice or hemp milk before so I went with almond milk in my decaf mocha – it was delicious. They have many kinds of vegan cookies available. Dan ordered the peanut butter chocolate Anzac cookie – very good. They have bagels you can top with vegan cream cheese or jam. No peanut or other nut butter though.
At the food counter, there are a couple vegan sandwiches and wraps, along with soy yogurt. For breakfast, they had vegan baby breakfast burritos: a tofu scramble with peppers, onions and vegan cheese in a small burrito and served with salsa. I was feeling hungry so I got two of the burritos. They were tasty, I recommend them!
One location plus: across the street is a church with a large grassy area, great for letting your child run off some excess energy if needed:)
Overall Drunken Monkey is a good place to go with a mixed crowd or if you want a non-dairy coffee drink. You could eat pretty healthy as well.
