The Mango Sun Cafe and Grille has two locations: Ormond Beach, a short drive just north of Daytona Beach or a beachside location in Daytona at Perry’s Resort. They serve breakfast and lunch. We went to the Ormond Beach location as it was actually closer for us, but they have the same menu. It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside on their patio which had large umbrellas for each table. The host was friendly and told us about their specialties. Our waitress was clearly busy, but we were never neglected and easily got refills on our drinks as needed.
A quick look at the menu and you will find that Mango Sun is not very vegan. It has a plethora of vegetarian options like muffins, pancakes – pumpkin pancakes were a special when we were there, waffles, a veggie omelet, the Garden Patch Benedict and a mango parfait. I did try the pumpkin mini muffins, another special, which were excellent. They were served warm, and they were rich and heavenly with a nice spice even if they weren’t healthy.
Fortunately they offer oatmeal that you can choose to have prepared with water or milk. I of course got it prepared with water along with sides of raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar. A strawberry came on top of the oatmeal – I wish I could have had more berries! I should have ordered a side of fresh fruit. You can also order a side of nuts. The oatmeal was hearty and I enjoyed it as it was with raisins and cinnamon and just a little of the sugar. They also serve freshly squeezed orange juice, but I was in a coffee mood and it was good quality.
If you are in more of a lunch mood, there are two salads that appear to be plant based: the Paradise Spring Salad and the Mango Salad.
