If you’ve never heard of Intelligence Squared, this is the perfect opportunity to start! They feature debates on a variety of topics with two teams representing opposing points of view. Hearing the differing arguments is informative and can even cause you to rethink your perspective. They poll the audience before and after the debate to see which side “wins”.
On December 4th at 6:45 pm EST, Intelligence Squared is featuring a debate entitled “Don’t Eat Anything With A Face”. Given the panel, it looks like both health and ethical perspectives will be argued. One of the guests is Dr. Neal Barnard who is the President and Founder of the nonprofit Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a group I personally find is a great resource on health and diet and the research behind it.
You can watch the debate on PBS, listen on NPR or watch it streaming via the web: http://intelligencesquaredus.org/debates/upcoming-debates/item/910-dont-eat-anything-with-a-face.
