One night in Savannah Dan and I wanted to eat dinner enjoying our apartment we had rented in a bed & breakfast. We ended up getting take-out from a local Italian restaurant, Bella’s Italian Café . There weren’t a lot of options besides the spaghetti marinara. Dan ordered Linguini with Pesto (yes, it had some cheese in the pesto) and I got the Caponata Parmesan, without parmesan: Italian vegetable medley sauteed with tomato and a hint of garlic.
The meal was ready to pick up in about 20 minutes. The food was ok. Both dishes plus the side of ziti with marinara had a lot of oil in them, especially the pesto – it was dripping. The salad was also swimming in dressing, I should have gotten it on the side. The portions were very generous.
Overall, Bella’s offers basic Italian food that’s heavy on the oil and doesn’t have many options if you’re avoiding dairy.
