We visited The Jones Eastside for brunch. This restaurant is committed to providing sustainable, local, and organic food. It is a small, local restaurant in a funny location (there is a pawn shop next door). They also have another location, The Jones B-side.
We originally were going to have breakfast at the Jones, but weren’t moving too quickly. Thankfully they serve breakfast all day so there was no rush. We went as a party of five and like some of the other small restaurants in the area, having over four people means waiting a while for a table. Once seated the kitchen was quick, diner-style.
Everyone else in my group had breakfast and almost all ordered the vegan pancakes made with flaxseed but with different flavors. They got three huge pancakes and all were great, but personally I was partial to the banana pancakes.
I opted for the kale tofu panini with a cashew cheese. Wow, it was awesome! This was my first time eating cashew cheese and it won’t be my last. The quinoa was a mix of brown and red, so it had some crunch to it.
Overall, our food was delicious and quick once we were seated. The Jones is obviously no secret to many in Gainesville – it stayed packed the entire time we were there. I look forward to trying more of their lunch and dinner items.
